Lumyst - Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing, accessing, or using Lumyst, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree, please do not use our services.

These Terms apply to all users, including individuals and organizations.

2. Description of Service

Lumyst provides an AI-powered VS Code extension that:

  • Analyzes codebases locally
  • Generates interactive graph visualizations
  • Collects minimal usage data to improve performance

The service is currently in public beta. Features, availability, and pricing may change before general release.

3. Account Registration

To use Lumyst, you must:

  • Sign in via OAuth (Google, GitHub, etc.) through Clerk
  • Have a verified email address
  • Comply with these Terms

You are responsible for keeping your account secure.

4. Intellectual Property

Your Rights

  • You retain full ownership of your source code
  • You own the output generated by Lumyst (e.g., graphs)
  • You may use these outputs for personal and internal development purposes

Restrictions

You may not:

  • Sell, license, or commercially exploit the visualizations, or analysis data generated by Lumyst
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or extract the extension's internal logic
  • Use Lumyst to analyze code with the intent of replicating our product

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the outputs solely in connection with your use of Lumyst.

Your Content

  • You retain full ownership of and all intellectual property rights to your source code ("Your Content")
  • We do not claim any ownership over your code, ever

Service-Generated Output

  • You also own the specific analysis, data, and visualizations generated by the Service from Your Content ("Output")
  • You are free to use this Output for any purpose, including internal documentation, reporting, and other commercial or non-commercial activities related to your software development lifecycle

Our Service

We retain all ownership and intellectual property rights to the Lumyst extension, cloud services, our branding, and the underlying technology, algorithms, and user interface used to generate the Output ("Our Service")

License to Use Our Service

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Our Service to generate Output from Your Content, in accordance with these Terms.

Additional Restrictions

  • You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to recreate Our Service
  • You may not use the Service for the direct purpose of building a competitive product

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use Lumyst to analyze malicious, illegal, or infringing code
  • Abuse the service (e.g., spamming LLM requests)
  • Interfere with our systems or other users
  • Attempt to access data that is not yours

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

6. Disclaimers

Lumyst is provided "as is" and "as available".

We make no warranties that:

  • The service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
  • AI-generated content (e.g., code tours) is accurate, complete, or safe to use
  • The visualizations reflect 100% of your codebase's behavior

You are solely responsible for verifying any AI output before using it in production.

As a beta product, the service may contain bugs, undergo significant changes, or become temporarily unavailable without notice. You use it at your own risk.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lumyst and its team shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Loss of profits, data, or business opportunities
  • Errors or bugs caused by reliance on AI-generated analysis

Our total liability to you is limited to $50 USD, even if advised of the possibility of damage.

8. Termination

  • You may stop using Lumyst at any time.
  • We may terminate or suspend your access if you violate these Terms.

Upon termination, your data will be deleted per our Privacy Policy.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms as the product evolves. We will notify beta users via email or in-app notice.

Your continued use constitutes acceptance.

10. Feedback

If you provide us with any feedback, suggestions, or ideas regarding the Service ("Feedback"), you grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use, modify, and incorporate such Feedback into our products and services without any obligation to you.
